Dr. Pascal Edme
Pascal’s research focuses on innovative acquisition and processing technologies for seismic monitoring and sub-surface characterization at different scales. He coordinates the Fiber Optic Sensing activities across groups (SED, EEG, SWP and BULGG).
Dr. Alexis Shakas
Alexis' work involves developing and realizing hydrogeophysical experiments in fractured rock as well as modeling and inversion of joint hydrogeophysical datasets.
Dr. Henrik Thomsen
Henrik's research is focused on experimentation with elastic waves, including active boundary control, wavefield focusing and metamaterial design. Henrik is an expert at utilizing the robotised 3D laser Doppler vibrometer for wave phenomena related experimentation. Currently he is working on an Innosuisse project aiming to develop a quantitative method for non-destructive testing of laminated composite materials based on full-waveform inversion.
Postdocs
Dr. Johannes Aichele
Johannes has a background in geophysics (lab-quakes) and medical imaging and is currently researching scattering at time-boundaries at CIWE. He will start a SNF-SPARK on glacial sliding in 2024 and keeps a keen interest in all wave-propagation related phenomena and methods.
